The 2024 Dubbo NAIDOC March and Family Fun Day started amid rainy, overcast skies which caused a few cancellations.
Many eventgoers took the free shuttle bus, which also participated in the march. The bus was decorated with components of the artwork “Connecting Along the Journey” by Contemporary Aboriginal Artist, Amy Allerton. This was our first time participating in the march, and the turnout, despite the wet weather, was truly inspiring. Our bus driver Marsha’s vibrant energy filled the shuttle bus as she sang with passengers, creating a joyful atmosphere.
At the Family Fun Day, Dubbo Buslines Depot Manager, Anthony Dodd, bus drivers Marsha and Ranjeet, and Buslines Group Head of Service Delivery, Chris Moule distributed show bags and bus dioramas for the kids. We enjoyed watching traditional Aboriginal dances and took part in a smoking ceremony. Taking photos with eventgoers using the large bus cut-out was a crowd favourite, adding an extra layer of fun and engagement.
The Dubbo NAIDOC March and Family Fun Day events were a joyous and memorable celebration. We extend our heartfelt thanks to all who visited our stall.
